Was recently in Cheney enjoying the wheat fields in winter stage. Contemplarting my own personal stages. Feeling positive.
I found a HP digital camera at the print shop in Cathlamet. It must have belonged to the late Rick Nelson. Was helping organize the place, which is under new ownership. My new kick is photos with this obsolete technology. It also works swimmingly with a 20+ year old Macintosh for transferring images. I also discovered Single-Lens Reflex gear with my rummaging — including neat flash unit for the SLRs. This means playing with B&W flash photography!
I am attracted to the old technology as another form of connection. I find myself doom-scrolling the socials, and soon feeling bad. I will take ownership of these icky feelings. It must be something about me. I feel better reading books or doing tactile things. Perhaps, it's my psyche wanting to feel better?! Therefore, I am attracted to the archaic. Is a device really obsolete if it's meeting your own needs?
Am busy with a lot of commitments and need to wind down in between. One of my best things to do is have a drink of whiskey every now and then. It's best to do this when connecting with another person. I will decline the next drink as I don't want to get carried away and then feel bad / hungover the next morning. Moderation! Social media is a good way to stay connected to the world, but treat it like bourbon — put it down before you run over.

Traveled east over the ridge for some time in Cathlamet. The '74 Super Beetle is finally on the road and running great. Need to shake out little things and there's interior work, but Beppo is a good daily driver.
Experimenting and learing how to print. Here is what the print edition of Deep River Dispatch will look like. I got my b and d mixed up!
